Refund Policy

This Refund Policy sets out the circumstances in which CGN American Tech Institute, a division of CGN Research World LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("CGN", "the Institute", "we", "us" or "our"), will refund, transfer or credit fees paid for courses, certifications, examinations and corporate training purchased through cgni.us or under a CGN proposal or statement of work.

This Policy forms part of the CGN Terms of Use. By enrolling in a programme or registering for an examination, you accept the terms below.

1. General Principles

  • All fees are quoted and payable in United States Dollars unless expressly stated otherwise, and all refunds are issued in the original currency of payment.
  • Refunds are calculated on the programme tuition fee actually received by CGN. The non-refundable components listed in Section 4 are excluded from the refundable base.
  • Refunds are made only to the original payer and to the original payment instrument or account. We do not make refunds to third parties or by any alternative method, except where the original instrument is closed and alternative bank details are verified.
  • Where an employer, sponsor or agency paid the fee, the refund is issued to that payer, not to the learner.
  • Bank charges, currency-conversion losses, remittance fees and non-recoverable payment-gateway charges are deducted from the refund amount.
  • Discounts, scholarships, bursaries, promotional credits and bundled offers have no cash value and are not refundable. Where a discounted or bundled price was paid, the refund is calculated on the amount actually paid, not on the list price.
  • Where a refund is approved, any certificate, badge, transcript or credential already issued in respect of the affected programme is cancelled, and access to Content ends on the date the refund is approved.

2. Cooling-Off Period

If you are an individual purchasing an online, self-paced or instructor-led course directly through cgni.us, you may cancel within seven (7) calendar days of payment and receive a full refund of the tuition fee, provided that you have not accessed more than 15% of the course Content and have not downloaded any downloadable resource, attended more than one live session, or attempted any graded assessment. Registration and administration fees remain non-refundable.

This cooling-off right does not apply to examination registrations (see Section 5), to corporate engagements (see Section 6), or where a programme has already commenced and you have participated beyond the thresholds above.

3. Refund Schedule — Courses and Certification Programmes

Where the cooling-off period in Section 2 does not apply, refunds on withdrawal from a course or certification programme are calculated by reference to the cohort start date as follows:

Date Written Withdrawal Request is Received Refund of Tuition Fee
On or before the day preceding the cohort start date 100%
During Week 1 (days 1–7 from the cohort start date) 75%
During Week 2 (days 8–14) 50%
During Week 3 (days 15–21) 25%
During Week 4 (days 22–28) 25%
On or after day 29 from the cohort start date No refund
  • For self-paced programmes with no cohort start date, the "cohort start date" is the date on which portal access is first granted to you.
  • A week runs for seven consecutive calendar days; part-weeks are counted as complete weeks for the purpose of the schedule above.
  • The applicable tier is determined by the date on which CGN receives your written withdrawal request, not the date on which you stopped attending. Non-attendance, non-participation or an unanswered enrollment is not a withdrawal.
  • Where fees are paid in instalments and a refund tier of less than 100% applies, the unpaid balance of instalments corresponding to the non-refundable portion remains due.

4. Non-Refundable Fees

The following fees are non-refundable in all circumstances, including during the cooling-off period:

  • Application and admission-processing fees.
  • Registration and administration fees, capped at the lower of USD 100 or 10% of the tuition fee.
  • Examination, re-examination, proctoring and test-centre seat fees, once the seat is confirmed (see Section 5).
  • Certificate, transcript, verification, duplicate-credential and courier fees.
  • Third-party licence, voucher, software, subscription and courseware fees already activated or issued in your name.
  • Fees for physical materials, kits or printed workbooks already dispatched.
  • Late-payment charges, dishonoured-payment charges and collection costs.
  • Payment-gateway and bank charges that CGN cannot recover.

5. Examinations and Assessment-Centre Services

  • Examination fees are refundable at 100% where cancellation is received more than fifteen (15) calendar days before the scheduled examination date, and at 50% where cancellation is received between fifteen (15) and five (5) calendar days before that date. No refund is payable where cancellation is received within five (5) calendar days of the examination date.
  • One reschedule is permitted at no charge where requested more than fifteen (15) calendar days before the examination date. A reschedule requested within fifteen (15) days attracts a rescheduling fee of 25% of the examination fee. Rescheduling within five (5) days is treated as a cancellation.
  • No refund is payable where you fail to attend ("no-show"), arrive after the published admission cut-off, are refused admission for want of valid photo identification, or abandon the session after it has begun.
  • No refund is payable where a result is withheld, invalidated or annulled following a substantiated finding of examination misconduct.
  • Failing an examination does not entitle you to a refund. Re-examination is available on payment of the applicable re-sit fee, subject to any waiting period imposed by the certification sponsor.
  • Where an examination is administered on behalf of a third-party certification or testing sponsor, that sponsor’s cancellation, rescheduling and refund rules apply and prevail over this Section to the extent of any conflict. CGN can refund only the portion of the fee it has retained.
  • Where CGN or the sponsor cancels or is unable to deliver a scheduled examination, you will be offered the next available seat at no additional charge or, at your election, a full refund of the examination fee.

6. Corporate Training and Consulting Engagements

Corporate engagements are subject to the postponement and cancellation charges below, calculated on the contracted engagement value for the affected delivery, unless the signed statement of work provides otherwise — in which case the statement of work prevails.

Written Notice Before Scheduled Delivery Date Cancellation Charge Postponement Charge
More than 30 calendar days Nil Nil
15 to 30 calendar days 25% of engagement value 10% of engagement value
7 to 14 calendar days 50% of engagement value 25% of engagement value
Fewer than 7 calendar days, or non-appearance of delegates 100% of engagement value 50% of engagement value
  • In addition to the charges above, the Client remains liable for all non-recoverable third-party costs already incurred, including travel, accommodation, venue hire, shipping and licence fees.
  • Mobilisation and advisory retainers, and fees for work already performed or deliverables already submitted, are non-refundable.
  • A reduction in confirmed delegate numbers within fourteen (14) days of delivery does not reduce the contracted engagement value.
  • One postponement is permitted per engagement; a second postponement is treated as a cancellation.

7. Cancellation or Postponement by CGN

  • Where CGN cancels a programme, cohort or scheduled delivery before it begins, you may elect a full refund of all fees paid, including registration and administration fees, or a transfer to the next available cohort with no transfer charge.
  • Where CGN discontinues a programme after it has begun and cannot provide a reasonable equivalent, a pro-rata refund is issued for the undelivered portion, calculated on scheduled contact hours or modules remaining.
  • Where delivery is postponed or moved online because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control, the programme is deemed delivered and this Section does not create a right to a refund, provided that the learning outcomes and total contact hours are substantially maintained. You may in that event request a transfer to a later cohort at no charge.
  • CGN is not liable for travel, accommodation, visa, equipment or other incidental costs you incur in anticipation of attendance. You are advised to make refundable travel arrangements.

8. Transfers and Deferrals

Request When Permitted Charge
Transfer to a later cohort of the same programme Once, with written notice at least 7 days before the cohort start date Nil
Transfer requested after the cohort start date At CGN’s discretion, within the first 14 days 10% of tuition fee
Transfer to a different programme At CGN’s discretion, before the cohort start date Fee difference plus 10% administration charge
Transfer of enrollment to another individual Only where the fee was paid by an employer or sponsor and CGN consents in writing 10% of tuition fee
Deferral of enrollment Once, for up to 12 months, on written request before or within 14 days of the cohort start date Nil for the first deferral

A transferred or deferred enrollment must be taken up within twelve (12) months of the original cohort start date. Fees for an enrollment not taken up within that period are forfeited, and a transferred or deferred enrollment is thereafter non-refundable.

9. Exceptional Circumstances

CGN may, at its sole discretion and outside the schedules above, approve a full or partial refund, a fee credit or a no-charge deferral where a learner is prevented from participating by documented exceptional circumstances, including serious medical incapacity, bereavement of an immediate family member, military or emergency-service deployment, or refusal of a visa required for on-site attendance. Supporting documentation must be submitted within thirty (30) days of the event. Decisions under this Section are made on the individual merits of each case and do not create a precedent or an entitlement.

10. How to Request a Refund

  • Send a written request to refunds@cgni.us from the email address registered on your account, with the subject line "Refund Request – [Programme/Examination Name]".
  • Include: your full name and learner identification number; the programme or examination name and cohort or session date; the invoice or transaction reference and date of payment; the amount paid and the method of payment; the reason for the request; and any supporting documentation relied upon.
  • We will acknowledge your request within three (3) business days and notify you of our decision within ten (10) business days of receiving a complete request.
  • Approved refunds are processed within fifteen (15) business days of approval. The time taken for funds to appear in your account depends on your bank or card issuer and is typically a further five (5) to ten (10) business days for cards and three (3) to seven (7) business days for bank transfers.
  • Telephone or verbal requests, and requests made to individual faculty members, are not valid refund requests and do not stop the refund clock.

11. Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your card issuer or bank without first submitting a refund request under Section 10, we may suspend your access to the Services and withhold results and credentials pending resolution. Where a chargeback is raised in respect of fees properly due under this Policy, we reserve the right to contest it, to recover the disputed amount together with any chargeback fee levied on us, and to cancel your enrollment.

12. Appeals

If you disagree with a refund decision, you may appeal in writing to refunds@cgni.us , marked "For the attention of the Refund Appeals Reviewer", within fifteen (15) calendar days of being notified. Your appeal should state the grounds on which you say the decision was wrong and enclose any further documentation.

Appeals are reviewed by a person who was not involved in the original decision, and a written outcome is issued within fifteen (15) business days. The appeal outcome is final within the Institute, without prejudice to any statutory right you may have.

13. Statutory Rights and Governing Law

Nothing in this Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer right or guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under the law applicable to you. Where a mandatory consumer-protection provision confers a more favourable right than this Policy, that provision prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.

This Policy is otherwise governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States of America, and disputes are resolved in accordance with the dispute-resolution provisions of the CGN Terms of Use.

14. Amendments

CGN may amend this Policy from time to time; the current version is always published at cgni.us. The version of the Policy in force on the date your payment was received governs that payment, and amendments do not apply retrospectively to an enrollment already confirmed.
